| I decided to make a map of songs I wrote in high school. These are mostly from my junior and senior year, and there are 39 of them all layered over one another. It is not exactly supposed to convey anything, it could be looked at as showing just how chaotic the type of music that I write can be, and that is shown because you can not really tell what the lyrics say, or what word goes in what song. I have a very disorganized writing process. |
I like this it's interesting.
ReplyDeleteThe image is striking because there are many words on paper, yet they are obscured through the blending process. I find myself trying to make out words and get lost within the composition. It is also interesting to see the visual structure that you typically follow when creating lyrics. I enjoy seeing the edges of the paper and I wonder why the bottom of the sheet is cut off? Words that stand out to me in the composition are "winner take all" and "carpe diem"
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure how to interpret this image. The combination of the multiple pages of songs makes it difficult to read them, yet it contributes to the image. The simplicity is what seems to prevent me from arriving at any single interpretation.
ReplyDeleteSince the images appear to be scans of notebook pages, I can't really say that anything needs to be cleaned up. The only idea I may suggest is to perhaps find a way to make the writing more clear so it is legible.
I like this image, very imaginative! I try to read the words yet you can't make them all out which is actually mysterious and makes you want to keep looking. Did you stop writing songs? I just wondered for the bottom of the page appears to be blank. I like the way you left the paper look and overlapped titles.
ReplyDeleteI think that this is a great depiction of time mapping; it portrays your talent and interest in music, while expressing the time and effort that goes into perfecting the skill.
ReplyDeleteI think its really cool that you are mapping your life in this way, through your music over time. I think that it would make for a better image if you were to crop out the overlaying edges, i think that the overlaying edges draw your eye out and make the image look blurry. Also i think it would be cool if this was represented as one single piece of notebook paper.
ReplyDeleteI like this because it's so personal to you. It shows what's really important to you and how your music has changed overtime with you. Awesomesauce!
ReplyDeletethis was updated to be my final turn in for this. just to answer some of the questions that were asked in your comments:
ReplyDeletethe bottom is cut off because of how I scanned them, something I did not notice until I was putting all the images together.
the words are sort of supposed to not be easy to read. showing the chaos that is in my music.
no, I didnt stop writing songs, high school was just where I wrote a large bulk of them. I was always walking around with my notebook so I could write during class. I probably paid more attention to that notebook than I did to my classes XD
thanks for all the positive feed back! Im glad you all liked the piece :)
