  1. Here are my quick reactions...excuse any typos...

Intriguing! The image immediately gives me a feeling of unease and disorientation because of the complexity of the forms you present (not a bad thing!). I see some sort of winged outline, ovalwood hall, a skull, a guitar, and a wooded area. I immediately try to make connections between these elements...It is interesting that some objects (like the building) seem mundane and everyday, while others seem more specific to an individual (the guitar) or dark (the skull). The overall mood is complex, disorienting, and surreal. What is the significance of these objects? How do they relate to one another conceptually? The wings seems to form a cross, so I get a reference to religion or to life..... a juxtaposition to the skull, which to me represents death.
I think the construction is coming along...just continue to clean up the selections as you work... My eye goes to the wings first, and then moves into the background. I think you could continue to exaggerate this depth using variations in tone and opacity. It is interesting that the background is light and peaceful, and then objects get darker and more complex towards the foreground. It is also interesting that the foreground elements sort of "block" my view other elements in the composition. I wonder if there is significance behind this formal decision.
I can't wait to see how it turns out!

  2. I like how you have taken the outline of your tattoo and are using it to combine all the things that are improtant to you/ are you. (I heard you talking to kate about using your tattoo outline and Im pretty sure thats what you described)Its really interesting how you have everything so close together there is really no set space for each item they are all intertwined and you have to really look close to tell where one piece ends and another starts. I like to think that its your way of showing how everyones life is what they make it. also i get the feeling of organized chaos like no matter what we see it still makes sense to you.
